- Abstract
- This text is a conversation with Patrick Bouchain and Nicola Delon, representing two different, yet interconnected generations and approaches to architecture. Bouchain’s career connected to projects examining the boundaries of conventional architectural practice is also a continuous examination of notions of common purpose and of collective action. Delon, who was taught by Bouchain, emphasises the much diminished effectiveness of public administration, a tendency that has also weakened planning for the common good. The conversation continues to address strategies of designing and building, of blurring maîtrise d’ouvrage and maîtrise d’oeuvre – between commissioning, designing and building.
