- Architecture beyond Creation
- Abstract
- Architecture as we know it today, architect Pier Vittorio Aureli writes in his essay, cannot do without the ‘labour’ of a multitude of laborers. However, the authorship of the ‘work’ is distributed to a few. He traces this asymmetrical situation in architecture back to situation wherein the division of labour became necessary. Aureli explains Dogma’s, the office where he is one of the partners, collaboration with cooperatives, in the development of adaptable constructions, which through their simplicity can be easily improved or modified by the builders and inhabitants. He argues that such a construction functions as a pedagogical framework that allows architects, builders and dwellers to cooperate, despite the current strict division of labour.
