- MultidisciplinarityA Brief History of UP1 (1968-1984)
- Abstract
- In France, ‘May ’68’ is considered to be the moment when the way architecture was taught was deconstructed and reinvented. Following strikes and the closure of the architecture section of the École des Beaux Arts, Unités Pédagogiques (UPs, educational units) were founded, to redefine architecture and make it a legitimate academic discipline, based not on artistic arbitrariness but on knowledge. In this article, the multidisciplinary approach of UP1 is examined.
