1. Charles Curtis

        Bio
        Charles Curtis is a cellist. He studied at the Juilliard School under Leonard Rose and Harvey Shapiro, and spent two terms studying history as a guest student at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has taught at Princeton and the University of California, San Diego, where he is currently Professor of Contemporary Music Performance. Acknowledged internationally as a performer of new and experimental music, Curtis has been closely associated for over 20 years with the legendary avant-garde composer La Monte Young. This year Curtis has performed with Young and Marian Zazeela in concerts at the Guggenheim in New York, premiered a concert-length work of Éliane Radigue at the CAPC in Bordeaux, and curated and performed in a portrait concert of Alvin Lucier at the MaerzMusik in Berlin.
