Patchen Markell

is an associate professor in the Department of Government at Cornell University (Ithaca, NY). He obtained his PhD from Harvard University, and taught at the University of Chicago from 1999 to 2018. He has published extensively on Hannah Arendt’s political thought, including ‘Arendt’s Work: On the Architecture of The Human Condition’. He is also one of the general editors of the project Hannah Arendt’s Complete Works/Kritische Gesamtausgabe, a critical scholarly edition of Arendt’s published and unpublished writings. He is currently finishing a book called Politics Against Rule: Hannah Arendt and The Human Condition.
