Merlijn Hurx

is lecturer in art history at Utrecht University. His PhD thesis Architect en aannemer (Delft University of Technology, 2012) was awarded in 2016 with the Karel van Mander prize
for the best architecture historian publication in the Netherlands for the period 2011-2015. In 2018, his book Architecture as Profession: The Origins of Architectural Practice in the Low Countries in the Fifteenth Century was published. He was awarded with a Veni research grant by NWO for his project ‘Architects and bureaucrats’ in 2013, and was Secretary of the European Architectural Historian Network (EAHN) from 2013 to 2017.
