- The Frankfurt Experience An Office City
- Abstract
- In the spring of 1989 OMA participated in five European competitions. This led, among other things, to a design for a large office building for Frankfurt Airport. Christophe Van Gerrewey discuss this proposal, and demonstrates the extreme architectural options it embodies. The project was developed according to a repetitive and industrial logic, but it also created unique and even picturesque areas on the scale of a courtyard. Moreover, on the longest façade a gradient is drawn of more than 350 m long. How generic can the architecture of OMA be, and how generic does it want to be?
