- The Competition Entry for Parc de la Villette
- Abstract
- According to George Baird, OMA’s design
for the Parc de la Villette in 1982 is one of
the unexecuted competition designs in
modern architecture history with a significant
historical importance. It also marks a
turning point in the conceptual approach
of the bureau. The design is an operational
strategy for the development of various
long-term programmes. The plan to subdivide
an urban terrain firmly and definitely
was new and daring, and it has proved
enormously influential.
