- Stubborn Modernity IJ-plein Amsterdam
- Abstract
- OMA’s project for the IJ-plein in Amsterdam started in 1979 and was completed in 1988. It was built according to the urban plan by OMA, and it also includes the first major building realised by the bureau. Nevertheless, the work is missing in S,M,L,XL. Lara Schrijver analyses the characteristics of the project, both of the process and of the implementation. A study of historical examples of housing was used to identify the strengths and weaknesses of certain solutions, and to communicate with future residents.
