- The Heavy and The Light
- Abstract
- In a personal description, Vincent Kompier ponders on his fascination for the St Agnes church in Berlin designed by Werner Düttmann, describing the contrast between the inexpugnably concrete exterior and the almost soft interior, affected by light. While other, older sacral buildings tend to impress by means of their height, the beauty of ornament, stained glass, or the overwhelming presence of religious sculpture, the St Agnes church seems to do exactly the opposite. The church is impressive by means of emptiness, and light.
