- Half an Hour of Silence
- Abstract
- Good architecture is unique because it makes a place exceptional. The experience of good architecture is based on a contrast with the context. This silence can acquire meaning in different ways. Good architecture can open the way to a possibility that did not exist; through good architecture the culture can be renewed and expanded. The unique ‘architectural work’ does justice to the difficulty of creating architecture, without rules, guidelines or conventions. Architecture historiography, too, justifies this approach by respecting the singularity of events and buildings. Moreover, the unique, good building is a centre from which the entire world can be ordered.
