- The Architecture of Foreign Policy Israeli Architects in Africa
- Abstract
- In the years following independence in various former African colonies, various Israeli architects, including such prominent figures as Arieh Sharon, began to extend their sphere of activity to Africa. By discussing several designers who made a fundamental mark on specific African locations with public buildings (such as university complexes) and/or housing projects, Haim Yacobi draws attention to the role and place of the design discipline within the geopolitical context of the time in Africa, which was significantly coloured by the issues of the Cold War and Israel’s evolving position therein.
