- The Dispersed HomeSpatial Reallocations between the Private and the Public Domain
- Abstract
- The redefinition of borders is an essential issue in urban housing. Blurring boundaries between the private and the public are deeply interwoven with underlying social and technological developments. Besides case studies, such as rental and community kitchens, the article explores spatial and material patterns of household facilities, services and ‘table communities’, which originate from the notion of the home as oikos and that emerge in the out-of-home sphere. They are identified as phenomena of reallocations that correspond with underlying social influences.
